In this page we present some examples of shepherd culture in order to testify how it was in Amatrice before the heartquake and in order to help dissemination and a better knowledge of this very ancient world. Perhaps it survived and stand up better than others during the centuries, but for this reason it became a closed-world, self-contained and jealous of its own traditions. In these last years both in Italy and abroad we are experiencing a rediscovery of its cultural and social values based on sustainability and environmental respect. The Cultural Association “The Travel of Transhumance” aimed at promoting and supporting this rediscovery offering hospitality to transhumances of other peoples for cultural exchanges and new common initiatives, with the hope that this could help sustainable development of the mountain territory.
